Simon Kamsarakan, director of the Armenian Centre for Basic Sciences and a member of the Public Board for Defence and National Security, has sent an open letter to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan over what he says are inconsistencies in the Armenian and English versions of the Armenian-Turkish protocols.

Kamsarakan says in the letter that the Armenian version of the initialled protocols substantially differs from the signed protocols, placed on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “A simple comparison of the texts makes it clear that this is not a result of inaccurate translation, but an obvious deception,” Kamsarakan said.

The letter says there are sentences and wording that are absent in the initialled protocols.

Kamsarakan said that the six-week discussion process of the protocols has been violated in Armenia, and public confidence in Armenia's leadership is undermined.

Kamsarakan suggests that Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan suspend the next stage in the ratification process and oblige the Armenian foreign minister to publicize the signed version of these documents and to specify a new six-week discussion period on the protocols.
