Nakhichevan Popular Front President Asaf Guliyev paid a visit to Igdir and discussed the issue of opening of borders between Turkey and Armenia with provincial chairmans of Republican People’s Party and Nationalist Movement Party.

Meeting with the representatives of Turkish opposition parties, Asaf Guliyev asked Turkish politicians the issue of opening of borders between Turkey and Armenia. Provincial Chairman of Republican People’s Party, Ilhan Zor said that their party is against opening of borders unless Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is resolved. “The approach of people of Igdir is also the same,” said Zor.

And Nationalist Movement Party provincial chairman Cahit Erol said, “We are close relatives with Azerbaijanis. Turkey’s borders with Armenia will not be opened unless Armenians withdraw from the occupied lands of Azerbaijan. We will hold a protest demonstrationon this issue. Governments are temporary but the brotherhood of Azerbaijani Turks and Turks of Turkey is eternal. Azerbaijani people should not have concerns about this issue.”

Nakhichevan Popular Front Chairman Asaf Guliyev also listened the opinions of journalists and the officials of Foundation for Struggling Against Baseless Armenian Allegations.

Guliyev said, “Armenians demand opening of the Alican border check point. The protocols that Turkey and Armenia signed has created disturbance in Azerbaijan. Opening of borders before resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem would be betraying Azerbaijan. I see that Nationalist Movement Party and Republican People’s Party are against opening of borders unless Karabakh conflict is resolved. We are glad about that. That is the appropriate attitude.”
