Westerner diplomats consider that Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan, who has tied his political career to Turkey-Armenia normalization, will become open target if Turkish parliament does not ratify the protocols. There are also rumours that interruption in the process of normalization of relations with Turkey may cost President Sarksyan’s life.

The protocols that Turkey and Armenia signed in the mediation of Switzerland in Zurich towards normalization of relations between two countries may bring problems especially if Turkish parliament does not ratify the protocols. It is alleged that such a development would undermine the process of rapprochement and may even result in assassination of Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan.

Westerner diplomatic sources told to Taraf newspaper that Turkish government should struggle towards ratification of protocols in Turkish Grand National Assembly. Diplomatic sources stressed that the other option may even result in the assassination of Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan.

Stressing that Armenian diaspora strongly opposes the Turkey policies of Armenian government, Westerner diplomats said, “Turkish government should be very attentive. The process of normalization is supported by international community and if Turkish parliament does not ratify the protocols that would bring the reaction of international community. Armenia is a little country with a little population but Turkey is a big country. Such development would damade Turkey’s reputation.”
