Voice of America had reported that Republican Senator John McCain stated that he believes Turks committed a genocide against Armenians in 1915. “I believe there are plenty of documents that prove this,” he said. On the other hand Public Radio of Armenia wrote that Republican Senator avoided making statements on so called Armenian genocide during his presidential election campaign and never gave support to the resolutions recognizing so called Armenian genocide in the Congress before.

Republican Senator’s pro-Armenian statements pleased diaspora Armenians and Armenians living in Armenia. Commenting on the statements of Senator McCain, Public Radio of Armenia wrote that John McCain hasended his long lasting silence on so called Armenian genocide.

Public Radio of Armenia underscored that McCain avoided to define 1915 events as a ’genocide’ during presidential election campaign and never gave support to the resolutions recognizing so called Armenian genocide in the Congress.

It is also written by Armenian media that John McCain supports the process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia. John McCain also called United States to decrease the financial aid to Azerbaijan.
