“Our sisters and brothers in Baku can be confident of that,” Turkish Ambassador to U.S. Nabi Sensoy said.

Sensoy said Ankara is looking forward to higher negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Turkey will continue efforts aimed at active encouragement of the final solution of the conflict based on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan”, he added.

Asked about Armenian-Turkish relations, the ambassador stated that Ankara believes that it would be extremely beneficial to divert Turkish-Armenian relations into a new channel with these protocols, thereby starting diplomatic relations between the two countries followed by the opening of the common border and start of an exchange between them.

“We believe this will prove useful not only to the bilateral relationship between Turkey and Armenia, but also in terms of making positive contributions to the peace, stability and security in the South Caucasus, especially in the region rife with ‘frozen problems,“the ambassador added.

Sensoy said Turkey's expectation is that this will not have any negative impact on the bilateral relations between “two states with one nation”, that is, Turkey and Azerbaijan.
