Commenting on the protocols that Turkey signed with Armenia in the mediation of Switzerland, Wellfare Party (SP) Provincial President of Bursa Hilmi Tanis said, “We did not close the borders with Armenia for nothing. We closed the borders as a reaction to the occupation of Azerbaijani lands. As Wellfare Party, our principal is open borders with all neighbouring countries. But the borders with Armenia cannot be opened unless Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is resolved.”
Stressing that Switzerland is not an appropriate country for mediating between Turkey and Armenia, Tanis said, “Why Switzerland was choosen as mediator? We don’t understand this. During these events, they did not let Azerbaijani flags in the stadium. This attitude has no logic and conflicts with the political realities. Their decision was really so wrong. On the other hand, Azerbaijan’s attitude of lowering Turkish flags in Turkish martyrdom was not true either.”
