Turkish journalist Nagehan Alchi from Istanbul's Aksham newspaper that visited Nagorno Karabakh denied the statements, attributed to her in press, while speaking to Liberty radio.
According to her, she did not say that Nagorno Karabakh “is a 100% Armenian land”.
“I said that today this is an Armenian land, an Armenian country as only Armenians are settled here”, the Turkish journalist said noting that the local television company missed the key word in her statement “today”.
“I said that we came there to see what is going on and write about it. And I think what we saw there is that today these lands are Armenian lands in the sense that the government consists of only Armenians and Armenians constitute for almost 100% of the population there. It means that despite this government is unrecognized, today this is an Armenian government”, Nagehan Alchi.
AZERBAIJANI FOREIGN MINISTRY COMMENTS ON TURKISH JOURNALIST’S TRIP TO OCCUPIED LANDS OF AZERBAIJAN
“Regardless of scope of activities of foreign citizens, a trip to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan without formal notification and permission of the Azerbaijani side violates Azerbaijan's laws,” Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Elkhan Polukhov said.
Writer for Istanbul-based “Aksham” newspaper Nagehan Alche recently tripped to occupied lands of Azerbaijan without Azerbaijan's permission.
“Azerbaijan’s stance on such issues remains unchanged. Those who visit the occupied territories of Azerbaijan without formal notification and permission of the Azerbaijani side are undesirable persons in Azerbaijan,” he said.
“Officer of the Azerbaijani consulate in Istanbul had a phone conversation with the manager of the newspaper Ismail Kichikgaya who said that the writer did not trip to the occupied lands under editorial board's instructions, but at her own initiative,” he said.
“We expect official reaction of the newspapers due to this fact. We will consider further cooperation with the newspaper only after it,” he added.
