One of the guests of the panel that is arranged by Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) in the Turkish House in Washington, Professor Kemal Cicek said that establishment of joint committee of historians is a great opportunity for Ankara to express its thesis on 1915 events to World public opinion.

The protocol that was signed by the Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Armenia includes establishment of a joint committee of historians for making discussions on 1915 events. Director of Armenian Researches Department of Turkish Historical Society, Professor Kemal Cicek said that the committee of historians will be established within three months following the establishment of diplomatic relations and opening of borders.

Stating that Armenian thesis on 1915 events are weak, Professor Cicek said that Armenians will see by theirselves that the documents they have been reading are not true. Stressing that the documents presented by Armenians during the ’Document Exchange’ process in Vienna in 2005 proves only the forced deportation, Cicek said that Armenian government considers that they will prove so called genocide if they can prove the deportation. Cicek said, “Armenia’s self confidence is excessive because they made the western world accept their unilateral story.”

Reminding that Armenians accept a cablegram that allegedly sent by Talat Pasha to Interior Ministry in 1915 as the biggest evidence of so called Armenian genocide, Cicek said that such cablegram does not exist. He said that Turkey will be able to present Armenians all the cablegrams that Talat Pasha sent, following the establishment of committee of historians.
