Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that he considers that the meeting he will hold with Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan on December 22 as decisive on the process of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resettlement.

Aliyev said, “We are attending to this meeting as a part of our program. This meetingwill decisive for the negotiations. We held several meetings this year but we could not achieve any results. If we cannot again achieve any results we will run out of hope.” Stressing that they may use the military option if they lose their hope about peaceful resolution of the conflict, Aliyev said that Azerbaijan should be ready for thatoption.

Stressing that Azerbaijan has the full right to liberate its lands under occupation by military force, Azerbaijani leader said, “International law gives us the right.”

Underscoring that Azerbaijan wants to solve the problem by peaceful methods to avoid a war, Aliyev said, “But if Armenia considers that we will negotiate the issue forever, they are wrong. We will go on negotiations as long as we have hope about resolution of the problem. But if we see that Armenia is just prolonging the process and freeze the problem then we will end the negotiations.”

Azerbaijani President added that Azerbaijan will never agree independence of Nagorno-Karabakh region.
