An official from Azerbaijani Presidency said that Turkey will lose Azerbaijan if the borders with Armenia opened in current conditions.
Making a speech in the joint meeting of leaders of Turkish and Azerbaijani organizations that is held in Frankfurt, Azerbaijani Presidency official Ali Gasanov said, “We want Turkey to look after Azerbaijan’s interests. Otherwise, not the Turkish state but Ankara government will lose Azerbaijan.”
Stressing that his country is not against opening of borders in the region, Azerbaijani official stated that Turkey will gain a little benefit if it opens the borders with Armenia before resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Gasanov said, “The government that opens the borders with Armenia will certainly part ways with Baku.” Underscoring that the normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia will not be enough for bringing peace to South Caucasus, Gasanov said that all of the borders in the region should be opened.
