Russian-Armenian journalist Simonyan commented on the last meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents and wrote, “Leaders do not consider making concessions on Nagorno-Karabakh.”

Russian Nezavisimaya Gazeta’s columnist Yuri Simonyan wrote that Azerbaijani andArmenian sides did not change their opinion on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and they could not come to an agreement.

Reminding the demands of Azerbaijan on the issue of determination of status of Nagorno-Karabakh, Armenian columnist wrote that Azerbaijani constitutional law does not let for a referendum to rule on the independence of the region. Stating that such a decision could be made only by a referendum that would be held all over Azerbaijan, Simonyan wrote that Baku does not consider making changes in the constitutional law. “Baku will go on recognizing Nagorno-Karabakh within its own territory,” wrote he.

Also mentioning the stance of Armenia on the issue, Simonyan wrote that Yerevan would agree to withdraw from some of the occupied regions if Azerbaijan recognizes the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh and pledges for not initiating a new war. “But negotiations may stuck at that point,” said he.
