Speaking to press during his official visit to Italy, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said that the negotiations that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan held in Munchen did not pass easy but leaders achieved progress on a few issues.

Armenian Foreign Minister said, “Parties succeeded to preserve the positive atmosphere during their eighth meeting in last 1,5 years.

To a question about the difference in the statements of Baku and Yerevan following every meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents towards resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, Nalbandian said, “The statements made by Armenian officials following the meetings are in accordance with the statements of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group Co-chairs. Therefore, in accordance with the truth.”

“ALIYEV AIMS TO UNDERMINE TURKEY-ARMENIA PROCESS”

Commenting on the statements of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian political scientist Stepan Krikoryan said that Aliyev’s threats of war is not new for Armenian people. According to Krikoryan, the only difference in the statements of Azerbaijani Presidentfrom previous ones was that the statements of Aliyev was towards undermining the process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia.

Armenian expert claimed that normalization of Turkey-Armenia relations would decrease the influence of Azerbaijan in the region. “And Azerbaijan knows that well. So that they are ready to make any step to prevent Turkey-Armenia relations to normalize,” he claimed.
