
Defense Minister of Azerbaijan Safar Abiyev has met his Polish counterpart Bogdan Klich to discuss prospects for military education and military-technical cooperation between the two countries.
Safar Abiyev briefed Klich on the military and political situation in the region and problems stemming from the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
He said in the wake of the occupation of Azerbaijan`s territories by Armenia, more than one million people were forced to leave their homes.
Abiyev underlined the OSCE Minsk group-mediated negotiations to settle the dispute have yielded no result. In this case, Azerbaijan will have to resort to military action to liberate its territories, he added.
Polish ambassador to Azerbaijan Krzysztof Krajewski was present in the meeting.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev also has received Wednesday Polish delegation led by Minister of National Defense Bogdan Klich.
The President Ilham Aliyev said relationship between Azerbaijan and Poland was developing successfully. He described bilateral political ties as “high level”.
According to the Head of State, meetings of the two countries` leaders are “intensive” and “fruitful”.
He added both Azerbaijan and Poland are keen on boosting cooperation in various spheres.
The President expressed hope that the Polish minister`s current trip to Azerbaijan will contribute to strengthening of ties between defense ministries of the countries.
For his part, Bogdan Klich said his visit to Azerbaijan is a good chance to contribute to developing relations between the two countries.
The minister expressed assurance that he would have “fruitful meetings” in Baku during the visit.
