Turkey is trying to drag out ratification of the Armenian-Turkish protocols until April, political scientist Alexander Manasyan told a news conference in Yerevan on Wednesday.

He said that by delaying ratification of the protocols, Ankara is seeking concessions on the Karabakh conflict and to become a major actor in the resolution process.

“Armenia should clearly formulate that Armenian-Turkish reconciliation is not related to the Karabakh conflict settlement,” Manasyan stressed.

“We should not expect major achievements or losses from the meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents in Munich. Tangible changes in the Karabakh conflict settlement are not expected soon.”

Manasyan said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's remarks about the possible resumption of war should be ignored.

These remarks are made for domestic consumption, not for Armenia or the OSCE Minsk Group negotiators, Manasyan said.
