Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan said that Turkey and Armenia made steps forward by signing the protocols towards normalization of the relations between two countries.

Commenting on the relations between Turkey and Armenia, Sarksyan said that two countries broke the ice in relations. He said that Turkey-Armenia normalization will contribute economical development and establishment of peace and stability in the region.

Speaking in the 13thCongress of Republican Party, Sarksyan did not forget warning Turkey and Azerbaijan. Sarksyan saidthat Yerevan will assume a similar pose if Turkey delays ratification of protocols. Replying Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s statements about the military solution to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict if negotiations does not progress, Armenian President said that Armenia will respond such step in the most harshest way.

Commenting on the protocols that Turkish and Armenian Foreign Ministers signed in Zurich, Armenian leader said, “We succeeded to break the ice and make further steps towards normalization of relations with Ankara. These steps will contribute economical development and establishment of peace and stability in the region. Now we areat the stage of ratification of protocols.” Armenian President said that Yerevan will assume a similar pose if Turkey delays ratification of protocols. Stressing that signing protocols with Turkey does not mean forgetting 1915 events, Sarksyan said that Armenian diaspora’s approach;“One should stay away from Turkey” is wrong. Sarksyan said, “We do not have the same diplomatic experience and political culture with Turkey. I agree with the opinion that Turkey is a strong country and started to create an efficient diplomacy. And i do not agree with the opinion of Armenian diaspora that Armenia should avoid etablishing ties with Turkey. Yes, i know that we do not have experience in the relations with Turkey. But we should initiate this. We will learn this rapidly. Even now, we are on a very different point from where we were one year before.”

Replying Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s statements about the military solution to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict if negotiations does not progress, Armenian President said that Armenia will respond such step in the most harshest way. Sarksyan said, “Armenia is towards peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. And it is not possible for us to let claims about Nagorno-Karabakh. In case, we are ready to reply all the claims by harshest methods.”
