Russia’s external policy has become wiser including in the Caucasus. The maturity of the Russian external policy is proven by Russia’s positive reaction on sensational agreements between Armenia and Turkey, considers Russian expert Nikolai Zlobin. “I think Kremlin understands that sooner or later Armenia’s economic and defense problems will be a strong headache for Moscow”, Zlobin said in his interview to Ekho planeti magazine.

Certainly, not all in Armenia and especially Armenian diaspora are happy with the rapprochement with Turkey but this is a breakthrough, one more door to the world, he considers. He said Russia played quite correctly by supporting improvement of relations between Armenia and Turkey.

“Certainly, now we have to rule the situation with Azerbaijan to maintain balance. Like Putin once told me, the specification of relations between Russia and Armenia and Azerbaijan is that if you have supported one side, you should find a chance to support another. Therefore, Russia should now find something for Azerbaijan”, Zlobin said. He said Russia should do something to prove that it does not take only pro-Armenian position. The problem of Azerbaijani refugees should be settled to restore justice, considers the political scientist.

According to the political scientist Azerbaijan is developing dynamically and has bright perspectives for at least the next 20-30 years.

As soon as Russia begins doing something good, everyone will turn their face to her, especially its neighbors, including from the South Caucasus, said Zlobin.
