
Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Armenian political scientist Ruben Safrastyan said that the agenda of Turkey is occupied by the Kurdish opening issue and relations with Armenia will be carried to agenda only after progress in the Kurdish initiative. Safrastyan claimed that Armenia may withdraw from protocols if Turkey delays the process of ratification.
It is reported that Turkey will only handle the issue of Turkey-Armenia normalization after achievement of progress in Kurdish opening. Famous Armenian Scientist said, “Kurdish initiative occupies the agenda of Turkey. Turkish leadership will only carry the Armenia normalization on the agenda after achievement of significant progress in Kurdish initiative.” Safrastyan claimed that Armenia may withdraw from protocols if Turkey delays the process of ratification.
Holding a press conference in Yerevan, Ruben Safrastyan stated that the process of rapprochement will be put in danger if Turkey drags feets in the process of ratification. Stressing that one should not expect for Turkey to bring the protocols on the agenda of Turkish parliament before Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s U.S. visit, Safrastyan claimed that Armenia may withdraw from protocols.
Stressing that accelerating the process of normalization may cause tension, Safrastyan said that Turkey should avoid making inconsistent statements and calling Armenia to make concessions.
