Professor Turkkaya Ataov gave a lecture in Munich, Germany.

Known with his researches on Turkish-Armenian relations and author of 80 books on 1915 events that are translated into 20 languages, Professor Turkkaya Ataov gave a lecture in Munich, Germany.

One of the former lecturers in International Relations Department, Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University, Ataov informed members of Turkish-German Organization on 1915 events and the political situation before the First World War.

Stressing that England and France understood the importance of propaganda (between 1914 and 1918) and convinced their own people and United States that they were right and fair, Ataov said, “Preferring to lie and publishing untrue articles and books about Turks and Germans, Englishes started the war of propaganda before the First World War and they controlled the brains of people.”

Underscoring that Englishes falsified the truth, Ataov said that England advertised Armenians as weak, innocent and disadvantaged people. “On the other hand, they knew that Armenains massacred 120,000 Muslims and tried to establish populational domination in Eastern Anatolia while Ottoman Empire was preparing for war, in the begining of 1915.”

Stressing the role of media on molding public opinion, Ataov said that England and France used press before the World War One in a successful way. He said that Ataturk established Anadolu Agency because he knew the importance of the press.

“The publications that were made against us should be corrected with the support of Ottoman archives and historical documents,” said Ataov. < Prev   Next >
