Armenia will start export of energy sources to Turkey in 2010, Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisjan told journalists.

“I think export of electric energy can start after the first quarter of 2010”, the minister said while visiting the Razdan thermal power station.

Speaking about the company to cooperate with Armenia on export of electric power to Turkey, the minister said "there is a number of companies that displayed interest in it and we will select the company that will offer the best conditions.

The agreement on power supply to Turkey was signed between the Ministry of Energy, High-Voltage Power Grid and Belgiam UNIT that is dealing with import and distribution of high voltage electric power in Turkey on 4 September 2008.

Under the agreement, the Turkish side undertook to restore substations and dismantle 3-4 km power distribution lines within 4-5 months.

Under preliminary agreement, Armenia will start with 1.5 bn KW/h per annum and raise it to 3.5 bn KW/h per annum afterwards. The price of exported electric power is proposed at $57 per 1 MW yet the final price will be corrected due to changes in price on oil and after the terms of supplies are specified.
