It is reported that U.S. President Barack Obama warned Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Armenian issue.

According to the reports, Obama called Prime Minister Erdogan for urgent ratification of protocols that Turkey and Armenia signed in the mediation of Switzerland towards normalization of relations between two countries.

Obama reminded so called Armenian genocide resolutions that came on the agenda of U.S. Congress for several times, and said that it would be difficult to prevent passage of such resolution in the U.S. Congress if Turkey-Armenia protocols are not ratified.

Obama used a diplomatic language and reminded the anniversary of so called Armenian genocide on April 24.

Turkish delegation received the warnings of U.S. President as thatApril 24 may create tension.

Speaking on the ratification process of protocols, Erdogan said that Turkish Grand National Assembly will make the decision about ratification of protocols. He said that Justice and Development Party does not support ratification of protocols unless Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is resolved. “If we present the protocols to the Parliament today, it would not be ratifiedbecause oftoday’s conditions,” said he.

Erdogan called U.S. President Obama to press for resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He said, “Use your influence on both Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. If Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is resolved, we can ratify the protocols which will open the borders with Armenia in a very short time.” < Prev   Next >
