The Karabakh Liberation Organization said the world must know about the atrocities committed by the Armenians in the Azerbaijani Guba region (170 kilomters from Baku).

“This tragic monument obviously demonstrating thegenocide committed by the Armenians against the Azerbaijanis is facing the threat of extinction,” the organization said today.

A mass grave was discovered while constructing a stadium in Guba in mid-April 2007. Basing on the disorderly character of the burial and other factors experts concluded that the human remains belonged to Azerbaijanis who were subjected to genocide by the Armenians in 1918.

However, since the discovery three years have passed and no serious work has not done to inform the world about the disaster.

“No real steps to preserve this monument, bring these facts to the attention of the world public and expose the Armenian atrocities have been taken,” the organization said in a statement.

The Karabakh Liberation Organization demands that the authorities interfere in the situation. The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group — Russia, France, and the U.S. — are currently holding the peace negotiations.
