Political blindness and apathy of Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian causes resentment.
Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during the recent meeting with US President Barack Obama that Ankara’s position on normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations remains changeless — it should be directly bound to the events in the Karabakh conflict", Diario Armenia, the newspaper of the Armenian Diaspora in Argentine, says.
The newspaper reads that Erdogan confirmed Turkey’s position after the meeting with President Obama.
“In this connection I would like to draw attention to the fact that Turkey does not miss a chance to put forward their claims at the time when the Armenian diplomacy is idle and calmly watching the developments. A few days ago President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan voiced languid warning toTurkey in connection with the freezing process of normalization of bilateral relations. However, political blindness and apathy of Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian causes resentment.
Erdogan has gained another victory already in the United States, thus confirming that the appeals and warnings of the Diaspora are not baseless. The response should have been an immediate reaction from the Armenian side, which, unfortunately, did not happen. Both Davudoglu and Erdogan do not only interpret and view prospects of Armenian-Turkish relations from their horizons but also try to sow discord in relations between Armenia and the Diaspora, claiming that the latter should not interfere with this process. But even this lack of tact did not receive any response from the Government of Armenia. Nalbandian is able and must use all diplomatic means at his disposal, including Diaspora institutions, like his enemies do,” the newspaper reads.
