Restoration of relations between Armenia and Turkey unless at least five regions around Nagorno Karabakh are freed.

The Turkish parliament will not ratify Zurich protocols on restoration of relations between Armenia and Turkey unless at least five regions around Nagorno Karabakh are freed, said Sinan Ogan, head of the Turkish center of international relations and strategic analysis (Ankara), who arrived in St.Petersburg for participation in the international conference “Russia and Eastern Partnership of EU: challenge or a new platform for cooperation.”

The Turkish expert also noted that the certainty about this script is caused by the results of the meeting of Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan with US President Barack Obama on 7 December. During the meeting, Erdogan spoke for binding the ratification of protocols to the Karabakh process and he did not face any significant objections from Obama’s part, as the latter is interested in Turkey’s support of US actions in Iraq, Afghanistan and their policy on Iran.
