According to Rehn, the parliaments of both countries should ratify the protocols urgently. The European official also referred to Article 301 of Turkey’s Criminal Code which limits the most important right of the freedom of speech, according to the West.
In accordance with this article, a large number of journalists and thinkers have been persecuted for raising the issue of the Armenian Genocide in Turkey.
