“The recent statement of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan showed that we do not ask to ratify the Armenian-Turkish protocols.”

The recent statement of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan showed that we do not ask to ratify the Armenian-Turkish protocols, said Grayr Tovmasjan, a lawyer and specialist of constitutional law, at a news conference today.

He said this statement means that we also might not ratify the protocols if there is an attempt to bind the Armenian-Turkish relations with other issues. “The presidential statement showed to the opposite party that not all trumps are in their hands,” Tovmasjan said.

He considers that if a signature is called back it will be an aggressive step which means that the side will never go back to this issue.

On 10 December Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said he empowered the due state structures to prepare an amendment to the legislation regarding signature, ratification and invalidation of international treaties.
