Attending several tourism events in Turkey since 2004, Vice-chairman of Armenia Travel Agencies Association Yegishe Tanashyan said that they consider Turkey closer to Armenia than several other European countries. “Tourism will help people of two countries to get along with,” said Tanashyan.

Attending to the Travel Turkey fair in Izmir, Tanashyan replied the questions of AA. Tanashyan said that Armenian companies draws attention in the events they attend in Turkey. “I want to express my pleasure on the curiosity of Turkish people on Armenia,” said he.

Stressing that they established tourism relations with Turkey in 2004, Tanashyan said that they never encountered any problem. Introducing a route of Armenia-Azerbaijan-Georgia route for Turkish tourists, Yegishe Tanashyan said that the number of Armenian tourists increases year by year although level of income is not very high in Armenia.

Stressing that Armenia expects more tourists from Turkey, Vice-chairman of Armenian Travel Agencies Association said that they are hopeful of the contribution of Turkey-Armenia protocols to the touristic relations between two countries. “We initialized relations much earlier than politicians. But efforts of politicians will form a roof and support for the cooperation between Turkish and Armenian entrepreneurs. Opening of state borders between two countries will be more beneficial for Turkey than Armenia. Even in current situation, Armenian people prefer Turkey on other countries.

We achieved significant progress in our studies with Turkish businessmen. We are friends now. Two countries have a great potention of cooperation. We consider Turkey closer to Armenia than several other European countries. Tourism brings different cultures together. In our opinion, good relations in tourism field will contribute rapprochement policies.”
