The Turkish expert called it abnormal when the borders of two neighbor countries are close and he support their opening.
There are no provisions in the Armenian-Turkish protocols, Mensur Akgun, director of the Global Political trends center under the University of Culture, told reporters Thursday.
“There are no provisions in the Armenian-Turkish relations and this is obvious. Today Turkey expects a gesture for building its external policy on normalizing the Armenian-Turkish relations”, Akgun said.
He noted that an extremely complicated political situation has established in Turkey due to the decision of the Turkish Constitutional Court to shutdown the Kurdish Democratic Society Party.
“Therefore, the Turkish government expects some gestures in the external policy to take its political steps”, the Turkish expert said.
“In particular, Akgun considers that Turkey expects a progress in the resolution of the Karabakh conflict, otherwise, he said it is difficult to expect any significant breakthrough in the restoration of the Armenian-Turkish relations.
The Turkish expert called it abnormal when the borders of two neighbor countries are close and he support their opening.
Meanwhile, he did not agree that the United States will put press on Turkey in the issue of ratification of the Turkish-Armenian protocols.
“I do not think the United States will put pressure on Turkey using the issue of ‘Armenian genocide’ to obtain the ratification of the Armenian-Turkish protocols, because this may harm the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations. I think the main problem is the settlement of the Karabakh conflict and normalization of the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations”, the Turkish expert said.
