Initiated as a reaction to the “I apologize to my Armenian brothers” petition which was initiated by a group of intellectuals, 21,500 signatures are collected in the petition “I reject apologizing.”
The website www.reddediyoruz.com that is established by a group of academician from Sakarya University is supported by every occupational group. The number of signatures in the website has reached to 21,455 although the initiators of petition announced the campaign just for once. Reacting to the petition “I apologize to my Armenian brothers” which is defamation against our own history, academicians from Sakarya University continue efforts against the signature collecting campaign of intellectuals.
The website calls Turkish people to put their sign under the text, “We believe that ‘I apologize to my Armenian brothers’ campaign is unjust, wrong and is against national interests of our country. Armenian genocide allegations on 1915 events in Ottoman State and the call for Turkey to apologize for1915 incidentsare nothing other than parts of the suppression policy against Turkey. Apologizing for 1915 incidents would mean denying whole history of Turks. We are rejecting these accusations.”
