Refuting the statements of Erdogan, Yeganyan said, “Claims of Turkish authorities about tens of thousands of Armenian immigrant workers in Turkey are exaggeration.” Armenian press reported that 294 thousand Armenian citizen went to Turkey between 2000 and 2009, and 288 thousand of them returned.
The number of Armenian citizens that travels between Turkey and Armenia in 2008 is four times bigger than the number in the year 2000, Yeganyan said.
According to Armenian official, unfavourable immigration balance between Turkey and Armenia has been 5000 people since 2007.
Yeganyan said that number of Armenian people that immigrates to rest of world is decreased while the number of Armenian citizens that immigrates Turkey is stable. Head of Armenian Immigration Affairs Gagik Yeganyan stated that statements of Turkish officials about the number of Armenian immigrants in Turkey are not realistic.
