NAKHICHEVAN WAS LIBERATED BY TURKEY

85th anniversary of liberation of Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic is celebrated in Moscow.

Attendants who gave a speech during the ceremony stated that Nakhichevan is anhistorical Turkish land and an inseperablepart of Azerbaijan. One of the speech makers, Russian Historian Rudolf Ivanov stated that Turkey had a vital role in theliberation of Nakhichevan.

The ceremony was held in International Relations Institute in Moscow by the contributions of Russia office of Haydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijan’s Moscow Embassy and Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic’s Parliament. Making a speech during the ceremony, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Moscow Polad Bulbuloglu stressed that Nakhichevan is a historical Turkish land and said, "Nakhichevan presented our national leader Haydar Aliyev to Azerbaijan and to whole World. Historical monuments in Nakhichevan are not just part of Azerbaijani and Turkish culture, but they are also part of Muslim and World culture.

Director of Haydar Aliyev Foundation’s Russia Office and daughter of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Leyla Aliyev made a speech during the celebrations and said, “Nakhichevan is aninseperable part of Azerbaijan. This land is sacred to Azerbaijani people. We are proud of Nakhichevan. The most important historical figures of Azerbaijan are from Nakhichevan. I invite you to the beautiful Nakhichevan,” said she.

Speaking to Turkish press, Russian historian Professor Doctor Rudolf Ivanov stated that Turkey had a vital role in the liberation of Nakhichevan from the occupation of Armenian armed forces. Russian historian said, "History repeats itself. When I was working in thestate archives I witnessed that Turks struggled a lot to liberate Nakhichevan from the occupation of Armenian armed forces in 1920s. In the documents I found, I read the difficult negotiations between Ankara and Moscow. Turkey was the greatest supporter of Nakhichevan in 1920s. Both in political and material means. Turkey’s policy against Nakhichevan was a "great menace"against Armenia."
