The possible opening of the Armenian-Turkish border will not have disastrous implications for the Armenian economy.
The possible opening of the Armenian-Turkish border will not have disastrous implications for the Armenian economy like some experts predict, considers Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
“There will be no disasters from opening and fantastic scripts are impossible here. We have enough mechanisms and levers that will help manage possible risks”, Sargsyan told a final news conference on Friday.
He reminded that many experts predicted worsening of Armenia’s economic state and Armenian enterprises that will not cope with the growing competition in case the border with neighbor Turkey opens.
The chairman of the Armenian government considers that the Armenian legislation provides mechanisms for economic protection from additional risks in case of opening borders with Turkey.
He noted that all ministries and structures of Armenia have prepared all possible scripts of risks and listed measures to overcome it at the order of the country’s president.
In addition, Sargsyan considers that the Armenian legislation does not need review too.
