Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu met Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in Ankara.
Two ministers held a joint press conference following their meeting. Minister Davutoglu stated that they will not let anyone to damage the fraternal relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.
Stressing that the peace in Caucasus will be established very soon, Davutoglu said that no one should aim for making use of the conflicts. “We should fight against crisis alltogether and we should establish peace in the region,” said he. Davutoglu underscored the strong cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan and said that two countries are sincere against each other in discussing any issue.
To a question about ratification of Turkey-Armenia protocols in the parliament, Davutoglu said that Parliament’s will is over any other decree. Stressing that Turkey wants an urgent and comprehensive normalization in the region, Davutoglu said, “This is our main goal. We are sincere on normalization of the relations between Turkey and Armenia. Besides, normalization of the relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem will create a healthy ground for all these processes of normalization.
On the other hand, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stated that Nagorno-Karabakh problem is the biggest problem in the region. Stressing that one cannot mention stability and security while 20 percent of the lands of Azerbaijan under occupation, Mammadyarov said that he discussed the issue with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in detail during their meeting.
Stressing that the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan in high level, Mammadyarov said that Azerbaijani businessmen visited Ankara with himself. “Turkish Azerbaijani relations in the field of energy is promising. Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars projects are exemples of this. Turkey has a special place in the hearts of each Azerbaijani. Turkey is the first country that recognized the independence of Azerbaijan. We always feel the support of Turkey,” said he.
