Armenia’s foreign policy problems are directly bound to the internal problems.
By signing the Armenian-Turkish protocols the Armenian authorities settled the only question of their legitimacy on the international arena, considers Hovannes Igityan, representative of the oppositional Armenian National Congress and former chairman of the parliamentary commission on external ties.
“Meanwhile, Turkey has settled several of its foreign-policy tasks. It gained the fame of a peace-loving country that strives to establish friendly relations with its neighbors, settled the issue of inviolability of its borders and became an indirect party in the Karabakh settlement,” Igityan considers.
He said Armenia’s foreign policy problems are directly bound to the internal problems.
Igiryan added that he considers Armenia and Turkey have more mutually exceptional positions than they did before the start of the normalization process which is caused by the imperfect initiation of documents.
“The Armenian-Turkish process has turned into a struggle for interpretation of paragraphs in the protocols. This should have been prevented,” the oppositionist noted.
