The issue of so called Armenian genocide is once again on the agenda of the Francedue tothe unjust decision of the French Court. Applying to French Courts and complaining that she is being exposed to discrimination because she is Turkish origin, Sirma Oran lost the case.

Turkish origin French Citizen Sirma Oran-Martz had applied to French Courts when she was asked ifshe recognizes so called Armenian genocide, during the period of her candidacy in the local elections. French Court of Lyons rejected the application of Turkish woman and fined her on denial of so called Armenian genocide with 1500 Euros.

Announcing her candidacy in the local elections in 2008 in Villeurbanne, Sirma Oran was asked whether she recognizes Armenian thesis on 1915 incidents or not. Rejecting to recognize so called Armenian genocide, Sirma Oran-Martz had resigned from the candidacy and applied to the French Court, complaining that she was exposed to discrimination because she is Turkish origin.

On the other hand, French Court rejected the application of Turkish woman. The decision stated that so called Armenian genocide is recognized by France in 2001 and there is no discrimination. Court also fined Turkish woman with 1500 Euros.

Sirma Oran said, “The decision is disgraceful. The Court simply did not pay attention to my point. I was a candidate as a French, and I was questioned because I was Turkish origin. This is discrimination. There is no place for discrimination in politics. I want to show the World that all of the citizens of France are equal. But the judge was like a deaf. He did not listentome at all. And I will continue till someone hears my voice, to ECHR if necessary.”
