A Turkish student in New York, United States is asked to prepare a homework on 1915 incidents in accordance with the Armenian thesis on the issue.
A Turkish student, in an high school in Manhattan, New York is asked to prepare a homework on 1915 incidents in "History of World" class. The family of the student issued complaint to the school management and applied to New York Consulate General, because the Turkish student was urged to prepare homework in accordance with Armenian thesis.
The letter that was issued to the school board by the Turkish family, stressed that homework is not objective and sources in the textbook of the class is also not objective about 1915 incidents. Questioning why there is no place for the Turkish thesis on the historical events, the letter stated that students should be able to know both opinions on the historical incident and homework should have been referring to objective sources.
On the other hand, Turkish student prepared a homework that states Armenian allegations on 1915 events are baseless. And the family of Turkish student has applied to the New York General Consulate and informed authorities on the situation.
Officials from General Consulate immediately established contact with the shcool management. Officials stated that Turkish students all over the New York and around New York should inform General Consulate on similar issues via e-mail over adress '' This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ". Officials called Turkish people who encounter similar situations in the other states to apply to Turkish General Consulates in their region.
The homework that Turkish and several American students in the class was assigned, wanted students to prepare a report on 1915 incidents in accordance with Armenian allegations. Homework wanted students to make an internet search on the issue and watch the interviews of Armenians who survived of so called genocide.
Public High Schools in New York teaches 1915 incidents under the chapter of World War One in accordance with Armenian thesis on the issue. History books in the public schools of the state refer to Armenian sources and books that are based on Armenian thesis.
