Armenian Assembly of America (AAA) announced that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will hold a meeting with Armenian diaspora in United States next month. It is reported that Clinton will discuss Turkey-Armenia protocols that Foreign Ministers of two countries signed in the mediation of Switzerland. According to the announcement, the demand for meeting was made by Armenian diaspora organizations in US, due to concerns of Armenian community on protocols.
After Turkish officials announced several times that ratification of Turkish-Armenian protocols is connected with the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem and deoccupation of Azerbaijani lands, and following the statements of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Charlie Rose Television Show in which he said that Turkey does not recognize Armenian allegations and so called Armenian genocide allegations are nothing more than lies, the concerns of Armenian diaspora on signed protocols with Turkey have increased.
Armenian lobbying organizations are expected to press U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on recognition of so called Armenian genocide. Armenian Assembly of America (AAA) and Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) will also attend the meeting with Hillary Clinton.
The Year 2009 Is The Year Of Losses For Armenia
One of the leaders of Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), Kiro Manoyan stated that the year 2009 was the year of losses for Armenia. Stressing that the process of international recognition of so called Armenian genocide is endangered by Turkish-Armenian rapprochement, ultra-nationalist politician said that Armenia should make steps for preventing this situation. Calling Armenian administration to announce that Turkey-Armenia normalization is not connected with the efforts for recognition of so called Armenian genocide in the world, Manoyan said that Obama had avoided to use term “genocide” for 1915 incidents because of signed Zurich protocols.
