The decision by the US Congress to render assistance to separatist Nagorno Karabakh has a negative influence on the US-Azerbaijani relations.

“Certainly, this step affects our relations and we always condemn such steps,” said Azerbaijan’s deputy FMHafiz Pashayev.

He noted that official Baku tries to avert repetition of such actions every year but the Congress continues its actions due to the active Armenian lobby.

“We try to inform them that this step does not promote development of our bilateral relations and damages the national interests of the United States,” the diplomat said.

He noted that the US administration understands this but the political situation is that the Congress takes such decisions not only on Karabakh.

The US Congress has decided to allocate $8 mln to the unrecognized regime of Nagorno Karabakh.
