Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu gave a lecture in King’s College in London, within the frames of his official visit to England.
Foreign Minister started his speech with the history of the relations between Turkey and England. Afterwards, Davutoglu mentioned Turkey’s policy over regional problems.
To a question whether Turkey will ratify the protocols with Armenia without preconditions or not, Davutoglu said, “Turkish government working on the issue and doing all it can.”
Stating that Turkey has a vision of normalization of relations with Armenia and removal of the tension in the region, Davutoglu said, “We are imagining a region in which acardepartingfrom Baku can travel through Karabakh, Yerevan, Nakhichevan and Kars easily and safely.”
Stressing that high level meetings have key importance in the settlement of problems in Caucasus, Davutoglu said that countries in the region should increase economical dependence to each other for establishment of peace. “Turkey made 51 agreements with Syria and 48 agreements with Iraq in this aspect,” Davutoglu said. He also reminded that airport in Batum, Georgiais being used as a domestic terminal by Turkish airlines as a part of agreements with Georgia.
Commenting on the negotiations in Cyprus towards resolution of the problem in the island, Foreign Minister Davutoglu said that President of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Mehmet Ali Talat presented a new package of proposals to Greek populated side of the island. “We are hopeful that we will achieve progress through the new package,” said he.
