Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Moscow is evaluated as a new opportunity for establishment of peace in Caucasus. Political experts foresee that development of economical, political and commercial relations between Turkey and Russia will contribute resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh problem. Energy issues, bilateral relations and regional problems are in the agenda of Prime Minister Erdogan in his Russia visit.

Deputy director general of Itar-Tass news agency, Mihail Gusman told to Azerbaijani Trend News agency that meeting between Erdogan and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in the begining of 2010, will contribute resettlement of problems in Caucasus positively. Gusman said, “While Erdogan holds a visit to Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister leaves for Armenia. Thisis a proveofthe pre-agreed schedule of Turkish and Russian Ministries of Foreign Affairs. I believe that the year 2010 will be important in this aspect.”

Spokesman to Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrey Nesterenko announced that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan and Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on January 13-14. Nesterenko stated that resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem will be discussed in the meeting of Russian and Armenian officials. Political experts believe that Armenia will withdraw from five of seven occupied regions around Nagorno-Karabakh in return of opening of borders with Turkey. As a result of such development, Baku administration is expected to agree with opening of borders between Turkey and Armenia.

Erdogan’s advisor for Eurasia, Geybulla Geybullayev stated that Turkish-Russian cooperation will contribute resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem even if it will not solve the problem totally. Stressing that the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenian forces is thesource of all the unstability in Caucasus, Geybullayev said, “Successful economical cooperation between Russia and Turkey will solve many political problems. Therefore these good relations will also contribute the stability in Caucasus.”

Armenian political expert Armen Gevorgian wrote in Armenian News that commercial issues and resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem will consist the agenda of Prime Minister Erdogan in his meeting with his Russian counterpart. According to Gevorgian, there is a bargain between Russia and Turkey on economical and regional issues.

He said that Russia will lose its influence on regional issues if it prefers to focus on economical issues.
