“We agreed about the date of the visit a month ago while the Turkish premier expressed the intention to visit Moscow.”

The visit of Russian FM Sergey Lavrov to Yerevan has nothing to do with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Moscow, Armenian and Russian FMs Edward Nalbandyan and Sergey Lavrov told a news conference Thursday.

“My visit to Yerevan is a planned one and we agreed about the date of the visit a month ago while the Turkish premier expressed the intention to visit Moscow just several days ago. Thus, my visit can also be associated with any other event that has occurred elsewhere in the world,” the Russian FM said.

In turn, the Armenian FM reminded that Lavrov was invited to visit Armenia during the last meeting of the ministers in Athens within the framework of the OSCE ministerial council in early December 2009.

The Russian FM is visiting Armenia on January 13-14. The Turkish premier visited Moscow on January 13,.
