Holding a joint press conference following their meeting, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin commented on the relations between Turkey and Armenia.

Stressing that Russia welcomes the process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia, Putin stated that Russia follows the process with a great interest.

Stating that Nagorno-Karabakh problem is very difficult charactesitically, Putin said, “So that, problems should not be solved in package and they should be handled one by one. Trying to solve these problems which are hard to handle even one by one would be equal delaying the resolution of problem. Russia will go on to contribute solution of the dispute.”

Putin said, “Russia’s role will be supporting all the positive and constructive efforts.”

Responding to a question about resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh problem, Putin stated that Russia has strong relations both with Azerbaijan and Armenia, and said, “There are millions of Azerbaijani and Armenian citizens in Russia. Russia also has commercial relations with these two countries. We also buy natural gas from Azerbaijan. We are towards resolution of the problems that remain from the period of Soviet era.” < Prev   Next >
