Turkey is seriously concerned with the functioning of the Metsamor nuclear power plant in Armenia.

According to Sabah newspaper, residents of the country’s eastern and southeastern regions have repeatedly appealed to the high instances on this issue. The newspaper notes that the concern is caused by fears of the spread of radiation in a greater part of Turkey in case of a failure at the nuclear power plant.

According to the newspaper, Armenia must close the power plant and find alternative sources. Professor Tayfun Kindap considers that a million of people may fall victim of a failure at this station. He also said an earthquake may also cause failure at the nuclear plant, therefore, Turkey should cooperate with international and European structures to attain the shutdown of the station. < Prev   Next >
