Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia attaches importance to the dialogue of countries toward resolution of regional and global problems.
Stressing that Russia is not a party of the talks between Turkey and Armenia, Lavrov said, “We attended to the ceremony of signing of protocols in Zurich with representatives from EU, France and United States. We support normalization of relations between two countries. I do not want to make further comments on this issue. The process was initiated by Turkey and Armenia without any external interefere.”
Holding a visit to Yerevan last week, Lavrov had said that they are giving full support to normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia. He said that rapprochement of two countries will be beneficial for whole World.Other than that,Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin told during the visit of Prime Minister Erdogan to Russia that problems in Caucasus are complex and they should be solved step by step.
WE ACTIVELY SUPPORT AZERBAIJANI-ARMENIAN DIALOGUE
Stating that they are actively supporting resolution of the problems between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Lavrov said that parties found the opportunity of discussing the problems to be solved although they could not achieve concrete results. The intensified meetings of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia will be continued in 2010. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will hold a tri-partite meeting on January 25 in Sochi with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan.
Russian Foreign Minister said, “The negotiations of last year were very dense. Although there is a general opinion that no concrete results could be achieved, the relations between leaders became stronger. The meetings helped leaders to understand the problems deeply. We give full support to the dialogue.”
Lavrov said that principles of right of self-determination of people and preservation of territorial integrity have the same importance.
