Russia may win more than others from Karabakh conflict settlement

E-mail Print PDF
" New opportunities will open for Russia in the region in case of the positive settlement of the Karabakh problem.

First of all, it will communicate with its Armenian ally via Turkey and Azerbaijan which will promote additional routes to Yerevan necessary due to its hard economic state. Second, Russia will have new energy routes of supplies of the middle Asian energy sources to the world markets which will further raise its positions on the world energy market," says the article of the famous Turkish journalist Zeynab Gurjanli, according to the Hurriyet newspaper.

According to the article, if the Russian initiatives are effective, on the first stage the Armenian armed forces will withdraw from five occupied lands of Azerbaijan and the liberation of other two will start on the second stage within five years.

The newspaper reads that Azerbaijan, unlike Armenia, accepted the Madrid principles of this conflict resolution. “Ankara, Washington and Paris are looking forward the presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia and laying hopes for this meeting,” the article says.
