A leading analyst at St. Petersburg Center of Modern Middle East studies, Alexander Sotnichenko said that Turkey-Armenia negotiations cannot continue unless Armenia recognizes Turkey's state borders.
As discussions on the justified decision of Armenian Constitutional Court continue, Russian analyst Alexander Sotnichenko said that negotiations between Turkey and Armenia toward normalization of bilateral relations cannot continue unless Armenia recognizes borders of Turkey.
A leading analyst at St. Petersburg Center of Modern Middle East studies, Sotnichenko said, “Armenia violates the signed protocols by rejecting to recognize Turkey’s territorial integrity.”
Alexander Sotnichenko warned Armenia that the negotiations between two country cannot go on unless both countries recognize territorial integrity of each other.
Stressing that Nationalist Movement Party and Republican People’s Party do not have enough chair in the Turkish Parliament to blockade the protocols, Sotnichenko said, “On the other hand, if Foreign Ministry of Turkey underscores Armenia’s attitude of rejecting to recognize Turkey’s borders, parliamentarians from Justice and Development Party may also vote against protocols. This is the key point of Turkey-Armenia negotiations.”
Speaking to PanArmenian.net, Russian expert said, “Armenia violates Turkey-Armenia protocols by rejecting to recognize Turkey’s borders. Armenia may recognize Turkey’s borders without recognizing the treaty of Kars.”
