Davutoglu said that several issues in Armenian Constitutional Court’s reasoned verdict were against the basic philosophy of the process.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that several issues in Armenian Constitutional Court’s reasoned verdict on the protocols (signed by Turkey and Armenia for normalization of relations) were against the basic philosophy of the process.

Turkey and Armenia signed protocols on October 10, 2009 to normalize relations between the two countries. The reasoned verdict, which was released by Armenian court, contained preconditions and restrictive provisions which impair the letter and spirit of the protocols.

Speaking to private NTV channel, Davutoglu said that the protocols aimed to contribute to settlement of permanent peace between the two countries, eliminate prejudices between the peoples, and to initiate regional permanent stability. He expressed his expectation from Armenian government to claim the protocols.

“ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN HAVE MARKED SOME PROGRESS”

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu evaluated Turkey-Armenia relations during an interview on a private news channel.

Top diplomat said Azerbaijan and Armenia have marked some progress on the Karabakh dispute recently, TRT World reported.

Davtoglu said further that they expected Turkey-Armenia ties to shape in compliance with the signed protocols, adding that laying down conditions for some of the articles would not be a right move.

Ahmet Davutoglu also warned that if Turkey is accused in the US Congress, the process will break down.
