Armenia opening in impasse

E-mail Print PDF
As Turkey-Armenia protocols stand idle at the parliamentary comission, retired Turkish diplomats criticize Justice and Development Party government for the current situation in the process of normalization.

Ankara and Yerevan administrations continue to blame each other for the impasse in the process of normalization of relations following the release of justified decision of Armenian Constitutional Court on its decision over conformity of Turkey-Armenia protocols to Armenian constitutional law.

On the other hand, retired Turkish ambassadors stress that the comments of Armenian Constitutional Court in the justified decision shows amateurishness of the Armenian court. They also add that the final decision of Armenian court is that protocols conform with the Armenian constitutional law.

Ankara administration criticized the detailed ruling of Armenian Constitutional Court stressing that the ruling conflicts with the letter and the spirit of protocols as it refers to Armenian allegations on 1915 events and Armenia’s land claims over Turkish territory. Government’s current attitude shows that there will be no effort to hold a general discussion on protocols in Turkish Grand National Assembly.
