"World already understands that Azerbaijan is negotiating not with Armenia"

Member of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (parliament) Nizami Jafarov says that if today Azerbaijan can dictate its position on the preamble to the document on resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, it will have even greater pressure on the negotiations in future.

"I do not think that this preamble is of great importance. Nevertheless, I believe that such a document is result of pressure from Azerbaijan and Turkey to optimize and enhance the negotiation process on Karabakh,” he said.

“If today Azerbaijan can dictate its position on the preamble, it will have even greater pressure on the negotiations in future. Coordinating preamble to the document is just one of the stages of settlement which will be followed by more significant ones.”

“I am sure that in these negotiations Azerbaijan will adequately defend its positions and interfere with the policy of double standards. The world already understands that we are not negotiating with Armenia, which is not a "force" on the map, but with powers. Therefore, Azerbaijan has to work even harder with the world's centers of power to solve its problems. Issues related to energy and energy corridors are now very important for these powers. Therefore, Azerbaijan’s value will increase greatly,” the MP said.

"Many experts in Azerbaijan attach no importance to the preamble of the Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement. I, in turn, think that the preamble is just a beginning,” Jafarov said.
