"Armenians are strangers in South Caucasus"

E-mail Print PDF

Many books, monographs and science fictions about the history of Karabakh have been published recently. The statement came from Yagub Mahmudov, director of the History Institute at the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, at the news conference at the New Azerbaijan party.   The historian called “The History of Karabakh” translated into six languages and presented at most international book exhibitions to be among the most popular books of the recent period.

He said Armenians have not yet responded to this book as all written there is based on documentary and real facts: “We have proved that Armenians are aliens in the South Caucasus in this book.”

As an example, he listed a memorial in Aghdara erected in honor of the 150th anniversary of Armenians’ appearance in Karabakh which was further destroyed by Armenians to remove traces of their falsifications. He also told reporters about the Book “Irevan khanlighi” which says that this city belongs to Azerbaijan and was transferred to Armenians only in 1918.

He also stated the barbarian attitude of Armenians to Azerbaijani cultural memorials this city and cited the destruction of the Sardarabad fortress, 6-7 mosques and other Azerbaijani monuments.
