Turkey continues diplomatic efforts to ease the concerns towards justified ruling of Armenian Constitutional Courtwhich wasrefering to 1915 events as so called “Armenian genocide.”
Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Feridun Siniroglu will meet Swiss officials in Bern, Switzerland to discuss the current situation in the relations between Turkey and Armenia after the detailed ruling of Armenian court. Besides, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State James Steinberg will make a visit to Armenia and held meetings with Armenian officials.
Ankara requests written legal assurance from Armenia over its concerns. Over these diplomatical efforts, parties initiated juridical consultations with the participation of U.S. and Swiss Foreign Ministry officials. Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Feridun Siniroglu will be in Bern to attend these talks. U.S. administration did not attach importance to the claims of Turkish officials, stressing that justified decision of Armenian court does not prevent implementation of protocols. US keeps the position towards Turkey’s concerns and evaluates Turkish position against Armenian Constitutional Court as exaggeration.
As Siniroglu holds talks in Bern, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Steinberg will be in Armenia in the same day. Steinberg will meet Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan. U.S. official is expected to call Armenian officials to be attentive to not toharm process of normalization of relations with Turkey.
